New Empress Magazine was a bi-monthly film magazine which thematically celebrated the eclectic world of cinema. It was founded and produced by Helen Cox and ran between 2010 and 2015. The magazine’s mission was to avoid reheated articles about the likes of Back to the Future and focus instead on the often overlooked films, directors and actors that were forgotten or overlooked.
The magazine’s archive of online articles can still be found here.
Over its five year run, Helen produced special editions of the magazine that celebrated silent cinema, B-Movies and teen movies to name but a few. All print editions of the magazine have sold out. The magazine is available for perusal in the British Film Institute’s film library on the Southbank in London. Helen is currently looking into digitising some of the issues so that the content can still be enjoyed today.
