Hot and Cold at the Starlight Diner: Free Short Story

Hot and Cold Cover

Three months today HarperCollins will publish my first novel Milkshakes and Heartbreaks at the Starlight Diner and to celebrate I’m releasing the first of three, free short stories. A trio of little gifts to the readers who have supported my writing thus far on this incredible journey and to those who’d like a sample of my writing style.

Set in New York in 1963, Hot and Cold at the Starlight Diner is a romantic, retro read with a dark undertow about the opening of The Starlight Diner. This fictional, fifties-themed restaurant in the East Village is the setting for my first two books and the short stories provide insight into the respective histories of the central characters, and of the diner itself.

You can download a PDF copy here. Or you can access it on SmashwordsScribd, Barnes and Noble, Kobo or on Wattpad. More than anything else, I hope you enjoy what I’ve written.

For fun tweets about diner food, fifties music and New York City life, why not follow the Starlight Diner staff on their Twitter feed @MilkshakesNYC?

Much gratitude to Joanna Swainson, Dean Cummings, Jo Pugh, Shelby Holt, Ellie Wood and Helena Sheffield for their insightful editorial guidance on this story.
